FREQUENTLY ASK QUESTION

Client's Common NDIS Questions?

What does ‘choice and control’ mean in the NDIS?

“Choice and control” means you have the right to make your own decisions about how your NDIS funding is used. This includes:

• Choosing your providers (including the ability to change providers if you're not satisfied)

• Deciding how supports are delivered and when

• Managing your own budget (depending on how your plan is managed)

How long does it take to pay invoices?

We process and submit valid invoices to the NDIS portal within 1–2 business days of receiving them.

Payment usually clears within 3–5 days.

Can I choose my own providers?

Yes! You have full choice and control.

As your plan manager, we support your decisions and make sure providers are paid quickly and correctly.

How do I get plan management in my NDIS plan?

Simply ask for "Improved Life Choices" in your planning meeting.

This covers the cost of plan management – it’s separate and doesn’t reduce your other funding.

What is community participation in the NDIS?

It refers to supports that help you engage in social, recreational, and community activities — like:

• Going out

• Joining a class

• Learning new skills with the help of a support worker

Will the NDIS pay for tickets, fees, or memberships?

Generally no — the NDIS covers support for access (like a support worker), not the cost of the activity itself.

Am I eligible for SDA?

Only a small percentage of NDIS participants are eligible. To qualify, you’ll need to:

• Demonstrate very high support needs or extreme functional impairment

• Have a clear housing goal in your NDIS plan

The NDIA must approve SDA funding after a detailed assessment.

What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

SIL is funding for help with daily tasks, like:

• Cooking

• Cleaning

• Personal care

Usually for people living in a shared home.

SIL is separate from rent and SDA funding.
